Here is the traditional Boone complete with coonskin cap, even though many of his other biographers (See John Mason Brown's Daniel Boone published by Random House) have proved that he did not wear one. In a homey vernacular we follow his meanderings- peace time, war time and skirmish time- from the Yadkin Valley to Boonsville and in old age, to Missouri- and on the trail with him, become convinced that the pioneer life consisted of jokes, temporary hardships bravely overcome, and an enviable solidarity.
