WILDERNESS JOURNEY

A bracing young tale of a journey from Holston River settlement to French Salt Lick in 1782 that is a journey to manhood as well. Sickley, incapable Flan Taylor's family had moved west and left him behind to recover a winter worn health. Now the ten year old had to make the journey with the big longhunter Chapman Green and on the way, to learn that quickness and intelligence count as much as brawn in the wilderness. The strength of Paul Caldone's drawings completes a satisfying book.
