More of this crime connoisseur's excellent reportage on criminous activities of the past, that reconstructs the deed and the doer, and presents impartially the facts of the eight cases under consideration. Of particular interest, perhaps, is the examination of the records behind All This And Heaven Too, which exhibits quite a different picture from the novel. Interesting too are the tributes paid to Joseph Shearing's novels animating crimes. But for those who have followed Roughead's previous books, there is little to be added to recommend the choice cases he reviews -- and the choice telling he accords them. Really superior.
