THE BOLIVAR COUNTRIES by William Russell

THE BOLIVAR COUNTRIES

By

Publisher: Coward-McCann

This addition to The Invitation To Travel Series concentrates on those countries connected with, and by, the hero Bolivar -- Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela. The chapter headings are catchy and provocative, and the material is based on bus, plane, train, car, boat -- and shanks mare -- travel of 105 days. The result is a personal record of the lands, the people, the cultures and the present day attitudes and characteristics; there is enough history, economic and political background to round out the picture; there are highlights of contrast and detailed descriptions of obvious and little known tourist stopping places; there is a feel for leisurely travel and sympathetic understanding. A book that reflects faraway places graphically, which not only commends but criticizes, which has a listing of cathedrals, hotels (decisively graded), an appendix of necessary information for traveling in these countries, and a bibliography -- this is for the stay at home as well as the wanderer.
