Dolphins again turn out to be more than exceptionally intelligent marine mammals in this spare, suggestive tale of an apocalyptic battle that ranges men and dolphins against a malevolent alien intelligence in the form of killer whales. The serviceable framework has many innovative trimmings, notably the extremely well-handled dolphin's eye view of the world -- a view in which vision proves the least of their remarkable sensory capacities.
