THE AMAZING BEE by William W. Fox

THE AMAZING BEE

By

Pub Date: June 10th, 1977
Publisher: McKay

Pedestrian in appearance and content, this short introduction tells how bees gather pollen, how beekeepers make hives, how bee colonies divide the labor, and how the workers' anatomical features aid them in their jobs. There is much that is fascinating in bee society and behavior, but it has been handled elsewhere with more style and depth; Fox just skims the surface without bothering to clarify or back up his casual statements, to separate cause from effect in phenomena that ""scientists have noted,"" or to give his factual descriptions any focus.
