KIRKUS REVIEW

The author's account of his 6700 mile solo pilgrimage from Callao to Samoa takes in both the physical and psychical aspects of an extraordinary Journey. Determined to test himself and to provide insight to means of oceanic preservation Willis started out at 61 in 1951 and his narrative depicting both the calm and the terrible has affecting passages. More spiritual and meditative than Kon Tiki.
