Jimmy loved his old house with the red roof, its flower garden and backyard. Thus when mother announces a forthcoming change of address, Jimmy is very disgruntled. Slowly he becomes accustomed to his new house with the brown roof, to the details of his surroundings and to the general neighborhood. For children who have had to make this dramatic change, this book adequately reflects appropriate feelings. Unfortunately the illustrations by Jo Polseno present a much older child than the text and makes ludicrous the very young Jimmy's questions and responses.
