The Jewish-Arab question as might be seen by a casual visitor, this personal narrative contains a good deal of human interest material and sound information cloaked by a light and easy style which may appeal to young people who have no interest in the weighty tomes previously published on the subject. Although swayed by emotion in her sympathies, the author examines the claims of both Arabs and Jews in her visits to Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, and returns with a case for both sides and a pessimistic view of any hopes for conciliation. Written by the wife of the United States representative on the U.N. Palestine Commission, this book should be a valuable addition to the supplementary reading lists.
