Marred by a kittenish, too-cute-for-words style, this nonetheless provides an entertaining and informative travel diary, as the wife of Louisville a famous editor records her part in his official investigation of affairs in Greece, the Balkans, Austria, Hungary and Switzerland. She writes of the things that would interest women, -- small details of food, customs, social life, with a clear, if brief, summary of the political situation in Greece, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia. Her husband's work in the Balkan Commission brought her into contact with international figures, often in humorous episodes, and a sense of intimacy with the fringes of the Commission is conveyed to the reader, while at the same time she manages to develop a gradual awareness of the growth and solidarity of Communism in these countries. Good woman's page editorial material.
