KIRKUS REVIEW

When eleven-year-old Michael leaves England on the Sea Venture bound for the Jamestown Colony, he little dreams of the adventures that will overtake him. Shipwreck off Bermuda; the year during which he lives on the island and helps build the Deliverance, a boat which ultimately takes him to Virginia; the first arduous months in Jamestown where conditions are far from ideal; his struggle to free himself from his harsh uncle's tyranny, and his devoted love to a dog all are components of this well told adventure. An interesting side glimpse into a colonial episode with details of early life in Bermuda evocatively drawn.
