FOR A CHILD

This is a very good first poetry book, a big flat book with lots of pictures in color and in line by Ninon- an excellent selection, chiefly of moderns, with a comfortable sprinkling of old favorites to give a sense of familiarity. Among the modern writers are such names as Tom Robinson, Christopher Morley, James Tippett, May Justus, Hilda Conkling; there are some 120 poems, dealing with familiar things, toys, animals, objects in nature, and so on. The poems are short enough, in the main, for the small child to like them. Paper over heavy boards. Junior Literary Guild for May. The editor was formerly editor of Child Life, so has had opportunity to know the field.
