THE HAWAIIAN WAY

The Hawaiian Way is a diversified path down which children of many different religious backgrounds travel. Here are 8 separate portraits of Hawaiian nationals -- a Protestant, Catholic, Jew, Shinto, Buddhist, Confucianist, Arab and Hindu. Each boy lives on one of the Hawaiian islands but we learn little or nothing about him but his religious beliefs and practices. The result is disappointing. There is a minimum of local color, and a virtual absence of the Hawaiian way of life, to substantiate the fact that all these boys live in Hawaii.
