THREE TOURS THROUGH LONDON by Wilmarth Sheldon Lewis

THREE TOURS THROUGH LONDON

By

Publisher: Yale

Evocative sketches of three 18th century periods (1748, 1776, 1797), as London is viewed through an imaginary tourist's eyes. How the Londoners lived, what they were like, what there was for the tourist to see, do and feel, what things cost. There is implicit the underlining of the resemblance of 1748 to 1928, of 1776 to 1930, of 1797 to 1940. Not especially wide in appeal, but more readable than most lecture texts. These were the Colver Lectures at Brown University.
