KIRKUS REVIEW

Another case for the insurance investigator, Charles Horne, in which he and his insult-tossing friend, Lt. Wiedenbeck, are confronted by the killing of a railroad agent. With apparently no motive and at first no knowledge of the method, Horne's suppositions of murder are confirmed and he backtracks to Chicago and Hammond, to an old murder and robbery to get his proof. Spots of humor and careful bloodhounding.
