An old-fashioned fairy tale with the theme of royal discontent tells how a princess escaped for a day and found happiness ever after. Going to the woodcutter's house the princess plays with his daughter and on her return she is able to persuade the palace authorities to let the other little girl come to see her every day. The author's pictures, familiar in style from her other books are in rose and blue.
