What happens to the victims of the glare of publicity attendant on a murder trial, following acquittal? This is the story of a man who may or may not have murdered his wife -- but who was not convicted -- and of what life does to him, and to the people closest to him. An interesting study of a weak character, a coward and a show-off, beaten by life, and of his wife, strengthened by adversity. There is enough of the mystery story element to have a fair market with mystery fans -- but there is more for those who want fine characterization and a social study.
