GROUP EDUCATION FOR A DEMOCRACY

This is not a book for the general public, but most booksellers have a few customers who are interested in theory and practice of education, and all libraries have departments devoted to the subject. Kilpatrick is well known in the educational field, and his Foundations of Methods showed him as a practical educator. This book is more along theoretical and philosophical lines, -- a survey of the elements in modern education that can be directed towards foundation building in a democracy. Elementary, secondary, and college education, the place of teachers, and the function of adult education, -- all come under his observing eye. The book is not a consecutive piece of writing; it is made up of lectures, special articles, and so forth, but there is a connecting thread of policy throughout.
