The author/illustrator of C Is for Curious: An ABC of Feelings (1990) applies the same flamboyant style to the numbers from 1 to 12 with less success. Her simple text reads, ``1 is for dreaming...5 is for singing, 6 is for reading,'' etc.; but, except for the first two and the three rabbits jumping rope, there's no real logical link between the numbers and the activities. As before, emotional content is creatively conveyed by the art, but these links are more tenuous here. Still, the artist's innovative use of color and stylized forms is worth a look, and the joyous enthusiasm in each picture is pleasantly contagious. (Picture book. 3-6)
