IN THE BEGINNING

20 full-color paintings are reproduced here. They follow the biblical text of the Creation story and were selected from submissions to an international children's art project sponsored by the World Council of Christian Education. The color work is vividly reproduced and many of the youngsters show extraordinary talent for their ages, which are listed in captions together with names, sex and nationalities. Other pictures are exercises in a sort of non-representational comic confusion. The book is similar in conception and format to the World Council's Away in a Manager. The chief value of the book seems to lie in the insights that children's art offers to those who Work with them and, in this particular case, the most interested readers will be Sunday School teachers and their trainers, who can use the book to best advantage.
