ELEMENTARY SCIENCE READERS

By

Publisher: Whitman

This group, too, (Life in an Ant Hill, Gold, Salmon) indicates that these readers are set on the right path. Gone the saccharine, the indirectness. In its place good factual content, straight forwardly presented. Life in an Ant Hill is an excellent nature reader, tracing the various aspects of ant community lift, habits, activities, enemies. Cold has more of the historical background, plus the data about how it is discovered and where, and the various methods of mining it. Salmon belongs both in the nature and industrial classifications, with enough about the habits and locale etc., of salmon, and a good deal about the fishing and seining and canning industries. Good content material for schools and libraries.
