When the Committee on Administration and Leadership of the Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America realized that the average Church had not the faintest notion whether its Christian Education program was adequate or not, the Committee turned to Dr. Wyckoff and asked him to prepare this work evaluation. The book is a do-it-yourself kit, which is detailed enough to enable relatively untrained people to follow its guidance, making only such adaptations as local conditions Because it is a manual of procedure, it is not the type of book one chooses to get lost in. In fact, the author is trying so hard to make the evaluations procedures understood, that the method seems swamped in words. It comes as a surprise, also, to learn that the standards for evaluation must arise within the Parish. This book is only an attempt to explain the method of determining how these self-erected standards are being met in the local situation.
