This is Mr. Hubbard's last book, and probably his finest, and describes his 13 square mile ""ranch"" in Northern Rhodesia, which he purchased and tried to run as both a wildlife observatory as well as a commercial enterprise. With his wife, he undertook this project in 1929 but between the depression and plagues of locusts, they were forced to abandon it after four years. They adopted many animals- a civet cat, a lioness, antelopes, a wildebeest, a crested crane, a hornbill, all of whom appear here to give the account its particular character as well as charm for all animal-lovers. Ibamba, the place and project, was a young man's dream; Ibamba, the book, has been his solace in later years and it is filled with much of the beauty and adventure of this early experience.
