AMERICA, I PRESUME by Wyndham Lewis

AMERICA, I PRESUME

By

Publisher: Howell, Soskin

A spoof on America, its people and its ways, as a too-too British officer, retired, is persuaded to go on a lecture tour as a pukka sahib, complete with hunting lions and tigers. This is the story of his tour, his eye-witness record, much affected by his monocle, by his wife's ghosting his speeches, etc. The result is some intelligent bubble busting, some humor and carpe diem criticism. Not as riotously funny as the publishers would have you believe, but interesting points underlie the burlesque.
