MEET THE ANCIENT GREEKS

For those to whom history is a means of recapturing the romantic flavor of a civilization, or a pre-view in preparation for a trip (in this case to Greece), this text, contagious in enthusiasm, will be welcome. Here are the major aspects of Greek history and pre-history, a survey of the geographic, economic, political, cultural aspects of ancient Greece, rooted in recorded history and archaeological findings, many of them of comparatively recent times. But for those who want their history to cut deeper, to weigh relative values, to carry intellectual connotation, this will not be to their liking. Photographically illustrated, this can be characterized as a somewhat superficial, occasionally romanticized breeze through antiquity.
