KIRKUS REVIEW

Fetchingly told birthday doings of a small Chinese boy. Throughout his happy day tiny Dee Dee finds his rewards for being good in a new gown and trousers, noodles and dumplings from Auntie Yee-Ma, firecrackers with his cousins, a kite from big brother and an evening lantern party in the courtyard. The author's tidy drawings of small, cheerful Chinese- colored in blue, red and tan- make the diminutive activities quite, quite explicit. Cloth.
