MY FRIEND MAC

This is another Little Baptiste story -- at first rather a sad little story about a lonely little boy, who yearned for a friend in the deep woods where he lived with his parents. And then he found a baby moose, and tried to make a playmate of him. But Mac was a moose and not a boy- and it didn't work, particularly when Mac heeded the call of another moose. It is a charming story of a boy and a creature of the wilds- and of how Baptiste's parents found the answer for all the isolated children in a school in the woods. A story for second year readers and up. The text is sheer poetry and Lynd Ward's lovely woodsy brown pictures are just right.
