KIRKUS REVIEW

An exciting tale of a lad who joins General Custer as guide and interpreter, when the famous Seventh goes after Sitting Bull and his Sioux Indians at the Little Big Horn. John is rescued by an Indian friend and lives to tell his story. The author has a thorough knowledge of Indian ways and legends, the life of the plains, buffalo hunts, and so on. Her picture of Custer is a sympathetic one, and her details of skirmishes and the final battle are excellent.
