16-year-old Elizabeth Stacy just barely recovers from the shock of her elder sister's marriage to have a gigantic crush which lasts most of her summer vacation. The young man is Eric Killian, a handsome, charming, 24-year-old concert violinist recuperating from a serious illness. Eric actually gives Elizabeth a good deal of encouragement as she tumbles, for he makes a point of seeking out her company and ignoring the more sophisticated, predatory girls in town. Elizabeth comes to realize, however, that Eric's feelings for her are the same as those for her younger sister, and that he is eager to return to his concert tour and his big-city girl friend. Elizabeth is a convincingly vulnerable adolescent, and her castles in the air are built according to plans which will be familiar to most teenage girls. By the author of Stranger in the House (1963).
