See ya later, Summer. Fall is right around the corner and with it comes a new crop of delicious books. That means a whole new selection of stories are just waiting to be read by anyone looking for a little entertainment or a lot of food for thought. No genres do that better than science fiction, fantasy and horror. Do you want to cozy up with a good book that will also stretch your imagination? If so, then take one ...
Nothing beats short fiction for quickly experiencing lots of new ideas, authors, and stories in a shorter span of reading time. It's readily available, too. Whether you consume them via free online fiction sites or through the many anthologies and collections published every month, short fiction also serves as a terrific palate cleanser between longer reads. Those are just some of the reasons why I love reading short fiction. Another is that it's just plain fun.
With so many books being released every month, it's easy to miss a few gems. That's especially true when said gems are not necessarily the books everyone is talking about because they are a bit offbeat. Here's a handful of books that should be on your radar...

The recent ComicCon announcement that a new Star Trek series called Star Trek: Picard was being launched on the CBS All Access streaming service was met with a very warm reception by fans and the media. It's a formula that aims to maximize the dollars a single book pulls in for the publisher. Publishing is first and foremost a business and this particular ...

McGuire is not an urban fantasy newbie. She’s a prolific author who has written dozens of published novels, including the popular October Daye urban fantasy series. In her list, McGuire offers caveats about her list (and ...
The television adaptation of Good Omens, currently streaming on Amazon Prime, is apparently doing very well. The executive team behind the show recently told Deadline that they would love for the series to continue. That’s not something they do with flops, so this must be a testament to how well the show is doing ratings-wise. (Unlike Netflix, Amazon does not release viewer statistics.) Like many studios, Amazon was betting on the built-in audience of a much-loved property to get their ...
