Harlequin TEEN announced today that young adult novelist Julie Kagawa – a USA Today and New York Times bestseller for her Iron Fey series – will be paid in the seven figures for a multibook deal. The new series, which doesn’t have a name yet, will feature “mythical creatures in a contemporary setting,” the publisher says. The first book in the new series will be published in 2015.

Kagawa’s previous books have mixed paranormal and dystopian themes, crossing from vampire to romance.  She grew up in Sacramento and moved to Hawaii at the age of nine. “There,” as her memorable author’s bio puts it, “she learned many things: how to body board, that teachers scream when you put centipedes in their desks and that writing stories in math class is a fantastic way to kill time."
