Just several days before the Caldecott awards are announced (on Monday), and there seem to be more and more awards announced all the time, we turn your attention to a kind act kid's writer and illustrator Phil and Erin Stead have done now for the fourth year in a row: their very own Phildecott Awards. The Phildecott basically allows the Steads to call out the favorite book published in the past year by their fellow kid's writers and illustrators. Except this year, they didn't choose one, but 11 winning titles. "In assembling our list we’re merely trying to share the books that meant something special to us at this point in our lives," they write at their site. "These are books that challenged us to be better writers and illustrators."
