In a publishing world where so many sales are being driven electronically, and inexpensive boxed sets by amazing authors can be had by a simple search, I have been pleased to see that more and more, authors are coming together to write in support of their favorite charities.

Even Romance Writers of America, the trade powerhouse, has leveraged its talented community to produce “a never-before-published collection of tales that showcases the breadth and complexity of the world's most popular genre of fiction!” Indeed, with superstar authors like Sylvia Day, Cindy Gerard, Allison Brennan, Laura Kaye, Sabrina Jeffries and many more, the collection seems to include nearly every genre, including Young Adult and LGBT. It looks like a great addition to any romance collection, and proceeds will support RWA’s programs and services.

The Hometown Heroes: Hotter Ever After charity bundle, hsummer raineadlined by Lucy Monroe and Melissa Schroeder, supports Pets for Vets, a non-profit that pairs shelter animals with military veterans to help them heal physically and emotionally from the traumas of war. Professional animal trainers rehabilitate the rescued animals and teach them good manners to fit into the veteran’s lifestyle. (I love this idea!) Authors in the set also include, among others, Nancy Warren, Sabrina York, Rachel Grant and Kate Regnery.

All proceeds of the Summer Rain anthology will be donated to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the United States. The collection’s bestselling headliners are Molly O’Keefe and Ruthie Knox, and it also includes popular authors AJ Cousins, Cecilia Tan and Mary Ann Rivers (plus more). Each story also has the added intriguing plot element of having rain somehow swirled into the story.

In 2014, Brenda Novak organized a box set in support of the Diabetes Research Institute, and it looks like not one but two collections are up on Amazon for 2015, to be released in May (the same month as her popular online auction). One set, the Sweet Dreams Boxed Set, offers 13 new thrillers by a breathtaking list of suspense writers. Joining Novak are Allison Brennan, Cynthia Eden, JT Ellison and Heather Graham, among others, with a foreword by Lee Child. (Umm, wow?!)

The other set is a collection of contemporaries, with an equally impressive author list, headlined by Brenda Novak, Melody Anne ,LindWay of the Warriora Lael Miller, Sherryl Woods, and Molly O'Keefe, with a foreword by Robyn Carr. (umm, double wow?!) It’s titled the Sweet Talk Boxed Set.

Also coming out in early May is a traditionally published charity anthology, The Way of the Warrior (though I’m sure there will also be a Kindle version), that supports the Wounded Warrior project, which provides a wide range of programs and services to veterans and service members who have survived physical or mental injury during their service.  The anthology offers eight romances about military heroes and is headlined by Suzanne Brockmann, Julie Ann Walker and Catherine Mann.

What a great list of authors and worthy causes! If you know of any other charity romance anthologies, feel free to include them in the comments. I just love to hear about authors using their talent to help a good cause.
