Hollywood has colonized post-apocalyptic stories, but the best world-ending tales started life as books. It’s really fun to see the world fall apart on the big screen but spookier while reading about the destruction conjured by imaginative writers. We’ve seen Brad Pitt’s World War Z (adapted from Max Brooks’ original novel), but we love these books too.
