Sheryl Lee Ralph will share lessons from her life and career in a book due out in 2027, People magazine reports.

William Morrow will publish the actor and singer’s You Better Love What You See: Living with Joy, Confidence, and Unapologetic Self-Worth next spring. In the book, the press says, Ralph “shares the personal stories that have shaped her and the advice that has guided her throughout her life—helping readers breathe deeper, love stronger, and rise higher.”

Ralph originated the role of Deena Jones in the Broadway musical Dreamgirls in 1981; she was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance. She went on to star in films including The Distinguished Gentleman, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, and The Fabulous Four. Since 2021, she has starred as kindergarten teacher Barbara Howard in the sitcom Abbott Elementary, for which she won an Emmy Award for best supporting actress in 2022.

Morrow says of her book, “Sheryl’s warm and empowering message is that, bottom line, when you look in the mirror, you better love what you see, because feeling powerful and purposeful won’t come from external accolades or approval—it starts with YOU.”

Ralph shared news of the book in an Instagram video showing her talking to herself in a mirror. “You know you’ve got this,” she says. “Yeah, that’s right, ’cause you deserve this. Every room you walk into, take the moment and feel the moment. Love what you see, ’cause you got this.”

Love What You See is slated for publication on April 6, 2027.
