Channing Tatum is writing a book, and it’s about as far away from Magic Mike as you can imagine.

In an Instagram post featuring a photo of himself dressed in a fanciful child’s costume, the actor announced that his children’s book, The One and Only Sparkella, will be published next year.

“Guys, I don’t know about you but things got a little weird for me in quarantine,” Tatum wrote. “I ended up accidentally locking myself in my 7 year old daughter’s room. And I ended up finding my inner child. So this is what I created for my little girl. From what is, I guess, the little girl in me.”

Macmillan imprint Feiwel Friends describes Tatum’s book as “a charming ode to self-esteem and the love between a father and daughter.”

The book follows a girl whose new schoolmates criticize her love for all things shiny and sparkly.

“Ella decides to try to be less sparkly at school the next day so the other kids won't make fun of her,” the publisher says. “But with a little help from her dad, she soon learns the importance of just being herself, no matter what other people say.”

People magazine reports that the book is dedicated to Tatum’s daughter, Everly.

“To Everly, the most brilliant magical being that I have ever known,” Tatum writes in the dedication. “You are my greatest teacher.”

The One and Only Sparkella is slated for publication on May 4, 2021.
