CALICO THE WONDER HORSE, OR THE SAGA OF STEWY STINKER by Virginia Lee Burton

CALICO THE WONDER HORSE, OR THE SAGA OF STEWY STINKER

KIRKUS REVIEW

Do we have to have them -- these variations on the comic strip and the modern hair raisers? This strikes me as pretty cheap melodrama (unless viewed with an adult eye as satire on melodrama), in a story, chiefly in pictures, of Calico who had a nose like a bloodhound and ideas about what to do -- and the chase after the bandit. Variegated paper and comic technique -- with a sophisticated twist, in the pictures. Written to young moderns order.
