Benjamin Hall will make his children’s literature debut with a book coming in 2026.
HarperCollins Children’s Books will publish the journalist’s Read All About It!, illustrated by Martina Motzo, next winter, the press announced in a news release. It calls the book “a moving and tender story—inspired by the toy hedgehog Hall’s daughters gave him to carry when he was reporting from war zones.”
Hall, a correspondent for Fox News, was seriously injured in 2022 while reporting from Kyiv, Ukraine, after a Russian drone struck his crew. He lost a foot, half of a leg, and the vision in one eye.
He told the story of his career and his road to recovery after the attack in a 2023 memoir, Saved: A War Reporter’s Mission to Make It Home. A critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, “Not for the fainthearted, but a bracing tale of life on the edge of death.”
Read All About It! follows a hedgehog who wants to be a journalist and warns the inhabitants of the forest he lives in about a hungry bear on the loose. HarperCollins says the book is about “speaking up and daring to make a difference, as well as the power and importance of journalism.”
“After I was injured while reporting in Ukraine, I have felt strongly that we must help others every opportunity we have,” Hall said in a statement. “I also believe that journalism remains one of our most important crafts, and I hope this inspires children to speak up, seek the truth, and share it with others.”
Read All About It! is slated for publication on March 3, 2026.
