House of the Dragon, Bridgerton, and Slow Horses are among the television series to earn Emmy nominations this year.
HBO’s House of the Dragon, based on George R.R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, earned six nominations, including special visual effects, fantasy/sci-fi costumes, and title design.
Bridgerton, the Netflix series based on Julia Quinn’s historical romance series, scored five nominations, including ones for voice-over performance, production design, and choreography. Also earning five nods was Slow Horses, the Apple TV+ adaptation of Mick Herron’s Slough House series of spy novels; its nominations include best drama series, lead actor in a drama series (Gary Oldman), writing, and directing.
Presumed Innocent, the Apple TV+ series based on Scott Turow’s novel, earned four acting nominations for Jake Gyllenhaal, Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, and Peter Sarsgaard. Netflix’s The Residence, inspired by Kate Andersen Brower’s book, also scored four nominations, including one for Uzo Aduba in the lead actress in a comedy category.
Other adaptations to earn nominations include Disclaimer, based on Renée Knight’s novel; Pachinko, an adaptation of Min Jin Lee’s novel; and Dope Thief, based on Dennis Tafoya’s novel.
The winners of this year’s prizes will be revealed at a televised ceremony on CBS on September 14.
