INDIAN OCEAN ADVENTURE by Arthur C. Clarke

INDIAN OCEAN ADVENTURE

by Arthur C. Clarke

Pub Date: Oct. 11th, 1961

A prolific writer and an esteemed underwater explorer has recorded one of his most fascinating adventures in the largest unexplored region of our planet, the Indian Ocean. With his companions Mike Wilson and Rodney Jonklaas and a raft full of diving and photographic equipment, the three "set sail" from the shores of Ceylon for an isolated storm-swept reef ten miles out at sea. Setting up house in a tall but excruciatingly narrow lighthouse was no small task nor was their precarious first dive, managed on the crest or a wave. Once launched the three spent many days fraternizing with dangerous groupers, training them to perform before the camera, photographing the sea-bed and finally attracting sharks at the risk of their safety. Mr. Clarke's amazing yet fully credible account will be brilliantly illustrated with the photographs he brought home and in its modest, low pitched style it is sure to capture new adherents to the undersea way of life, be they only simple in waters.
