The crew of the Liberty Bell were very tired of eating beans, so when Skipper John advertised for a cook, young Si saw his chance to go to sea. Si's blithe commandeering of the kitchen and the author's rollicking flavorsome illustrations are great fun. In all — a witty, atmospheric story, handsomely decorated in three colors.
