When Barbara Rosenblat performs a book, it's like having an entire repertory theater at the listener's beck and call. In SUSPICION OF MALICE, Rosenblat demonstrates her ability not only to give each character a unique persona, but also a truly unique sound. The title is a classic Barbara Parker murder mystery in which even the adversaries have a singular goal, to exonerate young dancer Bobby Gonzalez. When read by Rosenblat, however, the story becomes extraordinary. Whether the character is attorney Anthony Quintana, or his ex-fiancée, attorney Gail Connor, it is as though separate actors are behind the mike, each giving a virtuoso performance. Rosenblat's performance demonstrates that even a great read can be dramatically improved by a great reader.

      18mm BLUES

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
