Narrating alternating chapters, Michael Crouch and Tiya Sircar are just as appealing as the pair of Georgia teens they portray. Jamie and Maya are thrown together while canvassing for a local candidate. Crouch is endearingly awkward as Jamie, who's nervous about knocking on doors--but that's nothing compared to the idea of giving a speech at his little sister's bat mitzvah. Sircar conveys Maya's sunny personality as well as her vulnerability as she struggles with her parents' separation during Ramadan while also feeling estranged from her best friend. Their campaign work turns into passionate activism when a discriminatory bill is introduced in the Georgia legislature. Listeners will be equally invested in the progression of Jamie and Maya's relationship and the outcome of the election.

Listeners follow Merry, the longbow girl, one of the best archers in her town. When she finds a magical portal in the forest that takes her back to sixteenth-century Wales, she must use her skills to win an archery contest in order to help her ancestors keep their land. While narrator Emily Wilden brings protagonist Merry to life with a rich Welsh accent, her narration seems uneven at times. All the period characters have accents that reflect the setting of the story and transport listeners to Wales. Listeners who enjoy historical fiction and a bit of fantasy will be charmed by this tale of determination, hope, and family.
