Nick Scott, a former SAS (British special forces) agent who was captured and tortured in the first Gulf War, is getting his life together when his daughter, Sarah, disappears. He sets out to find her on his own and then is joined by Jed Bradley, an active SAS agent. Their quest leads them back to Iraq, where Nick must confront his demons. Gordon Griffin captures Nick's gruff hostility and brings life to all the other characters with convincing accents, which he manages to keep consistent throughout the frequent switches in setting--no mean feat. Unfortunately, even a talented narrator can't overcome a repetitive story with a plot that doesn't make much sense.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
