by David Hosp ; read by George Guidall ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 2010
Most listeners will love this latest Scott Finn adventure because it creates an imagined version of one of the biggest, yet unsolved, art heists in history--the half-billion-dollar theft at the Isabella Gardner Museum in Boston in 1990. Others are going to find the plot mercilessly slow, a weakness that isn't helped much by George Guidall's methodical narration. Finn, a lawyer who is a reformed member of the Boston underworld, is called upon to defend an old friend who’s involved in a minor burglary. He is drawn into the 1990 art theft case when it appears his client may have been one of the thieves. Meanwhile, some of Boston's Irish gangsters begin turning up dead. Could someone be exacting revenge on this group? There are some informative glimpses of Boston's poor neighborhoods, but they don't offset the author's meandering into several subplots. On a positive note, Guidall has his Irish brogue down pat.

by C.J. Box ; read by David Chandler ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
C.J. Box writes about life in wild Wyoming, short stories of people living a rugged life by choice or by circumstance. David Chandler narrates in a rough-edged whiskey voice that suggests summer heat, bitter winters, and windswept prairies, guiding the listener through 10 adventures of men like Fish and Game Officer Joe Pickett. Chandler brings the listener into this strange world where, more often than not, men have to create their own justice. His performance of the economical stories, some rarely seen, is perfect. The tale of the frozen body of a Native American basketball player turned speed freak, her arm reaching through the ice of a lake in a final jump shot, is one of the most fascinating in the collection.

by Clive Cussler ; read by Tom Wopat ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
Dirk Pitt, intrepid adventurer and master explorer, searches the Sahara for the deadly toxin that is killing marine life world wide. This audio, abridged by Harold Schmidt, lacks most of the adventure, as well as the humor, of Cussler's novels. Narrator Tom Wopat brings an unconventional vocal slant to the ever-cocky Pitt. Using lots of vocal characterization, Wopat brings across the smug brashness of Pitt and handles dialogue briskly. Enhanced by sound effects and small pieces of music, this is an interesting and perplexing mystery.
