by Debbie Macomber ; Read by Eliza Foss ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 18, 2022
Narrator Eliza Foss portrays Nana as she tells her grandchildren a true Christmas story from 1977. In Nana's tale, Peter the pastor and Hank the bartender switch places the week before Christmas, finding love and enlightenment in the exchange. Foss unwinds the story in a gentle old-time style that suits Macomber's wholesome message. Peter sounds more restrained, while Hank is more casual and jovial. Peter's sister, Grace Ann, who is stuck with guiding Hank through church festivities, sounds appropriately peeved until she rediscovers the meaning of Christian charity. Peter's encounters with the bikers who frequent Hank's tavern include lots of gruff voices and some hilarious moments. In an understated fashion, Foss encourages listeners to share Macomber's theme of boundless love in a joyous Christmas season.

by Gerald A. Browne ; Read by Barry Bostwick ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 1993
This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
