Marin Ireland’s easy-listening voice welcomes listeners into this funny, textured novel with convivial enthusiasm. It’s the perfect tone for a story about a four-day cruise aboard the American Fantasy, featuring the now middle-aged members of a 1990s boy band and 3,000 of their most passionate fans. Ireland offers vivid character interpretations such as Annie, who’s doubtful about the experience; over-the-top fangirl Maira; Keith, a band member who hates these cruises; his brother/bandmate Shawn, who lives for them; and tough, patient cruise-wrangler Sarah. In between, Ireland’s smile-inducing narration illuminates the action, from wild to heartfelt to steamy. You don’t have to have adored a band to find plenty of delight here.

by Gerald A. Browne ; read by Barry Bostwick ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 1993
This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
