An exciting history and mythology adventure is narrated with perfection by Elizabeth Klett. When Lil is invited to a Future Leaders International Conference, the same one her mother once attended, she hopes to find answers to the mystery of her mother's death. Lil and her friends are soon caught up in a world of secret societies and mythology. Klett offers an extensive cast of characters with varying emotion. The tween cast sounds pitch-perfect, and Klett easily navigates from one accent to another, with each character sounding unique. The adults are wise and understanding, and the mysterious villains have just enough bite to be scary. This is a wonderful choice for middle grade listeners who love adventure.

Listeners follow Merry, the longbow girl, one of the best archers in her town. When she finds a magical portal in the forest that takes her back to sixteenth-century Wales, she must use her skills to win an archery contest in order to help her ancestors keep their land. While narrator Emily Wilden brings protagonist Merry to life with a rich Welsh accent, her narration seems uneven at times. All the period characters have accents that reflect the setting of the story and transport listeners to Wales. Listeners who enjoy historical fiction and a bit of fantasy will be charmed by this tale of determination, hope, and family.
