After catching her boyfriend in bed with her best friend, Kate McPhee leaves London for LA and a career in acting. She lands her first job in the soaps. But when leading lady Meredith Contini sees Kate as a threat, she changes the script to get even. However, Kate's popularity continues to rise. Finola Hughes's delivery is fast, clipped, and at times comedic, but the one-dimensional story line is both difficult to follow and tasteless. The steady pace of practice dialogue scenes seems endless and soon becomes irritating. This romp through the "soaps" will appeal only to soap opera fans, and not many of them.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
