by Gareth Brown ; Read by Miranda Raison ‧ RELEASE DATE: Feb. 13, 2024
Miranda Raison performs this magical adventure set on an alternative Earth, where a collection of mysterious books gives special powers to those who possess one of its volumes. When a customer dies in the bookstore where she works, Cassie discovers that he's left her an old, leather-bound work called THE BOOK OF DOORS, which can open almost any door across the world. In portraying supporting characters from all over the globe, Raison is challenged by a range of accents that she doesn't always pull off. But she maintains the story's tense atmosphere and racing plot. She also captures the sinister antagonist and Cassie's deep love of books.

Julie Maisey brings verve and well-chosen characterizations to her performance of Griffiths's latest mystery. A departure from Griffiths's successful series featuring archaeologist Ruth Galloway, this new audiobook introduces Ali Dawson and a group of current-day investigators who travel in time. History-oriented instead of science- focused, the story is well researched and fun. Ali journeys to Victorian London to discover if a client's ancestor really was a murderer, only to get stuck in the past and have a modern-day death complicate the case. Maisey narrates with clarity and enthusiasm, enjoying and enlivening the character-driven plot. Her nuanced portraits of Ali and her team, and ability to illuminate personalities and Victorian class differences, deepen the story's nuances. Fingers crossed for a sequel from Griffiths and Maisey.

by Tim Weed ; Read by Bradford Hastings , Dawn Harvey & Frankie Corzo ‧ RELEASE DATE: June 3, 2025
Three narrators guide listeners through a story that intertwines family drama, spiritual mystery, and scientific inquiry. In 2068 AD, another pandemic has Earth's inhabitants worried about the future of humanity. In response, the Centauri Project sends a scientist into the future, where he searches an empty wilderness for evidence of Earth's former population. Bradford Hastings's steady, thoughtful tone anchors the more reflective passages. Dawn Harvey conveys warmth and vulnerability, deepening scenes of grief and renewal with emotional precision. Frankie Corzo's dynamic performance injects immediacy, heightening moments of conflict and discovery. The audio format enhances the novel's meditative spirit, turning abstract concepts into vivid, emotional encounters that linger well after the final chapter.
